Over the 70 years of Elizabeth II being our Queen Burscough has changed in many way for many different people.

These videos try to tell stories of typical people, one in each decade of the jubilee.

They tell how the faith and faithfulness of Queen Elizabeth have been a unifying narrative of these years.

Take our Magical History Tour, where you can watch all the videos in the location they talk about.

As you walk past the shops you will also see photographs of the town at different times during these 70 years and read explanation of the different businesses and their owners over this time.

2010s: The Magical History Tour of Burscough travels to the 2010s. Where we meet Tom Lee (himself), who was brought up in Hong Kong but now lives in Burscough. He talks about the olympic torch that passed through Burscough in 2012. He mentions about having an extended family through out the world, not only one local family.

2000s: The Magical History Tour of Burscough travels to the 2000s. Where we meet Mrs Jane Walker (Nat), who is a primary School teacher at Lordsgate school. As the history coordinator she enjoyed planning the exciting project about Christianity over 2000 years ago, about the birth of Jesus and the importance of the Jesus himself within history and her life.

1990s: The Magical History Tour of Burscough travels to the 1990s. Where Harry Parker (Chris), who is a navy veteran, fought in the Falkland war, 10 years ago. He shares his memories of the time when he was there, and how the war changed him. He later found someone to talk to, who challenged him with an important question which made him think but also helped him come to terms with his experiences.

1980s: The Magical History Tour of Burscough travels to the 1980s. Where Shelia Walsh (Claire), a business woman waiting for her train. Discusses that there are changes in Burscough, however things aren’t fair in the city, and there is resentment building, she questions what is going on.

1970s: The Magical History Tour of Burscough travels to the 1970s. Where John Simpson (Steven), an hardware store owner is struggling to keep up with the demand due to power cuts. He is also recognising what people buy is changing too. However, things are hard for some people but there is always someone there for us.

1960s: The Magical History Tour of Burscough travels to the 1960s. Where Samantha Arkright (Amie), who is a young lady in her early 20s prepares herself for a dance in Southport. However, her Father isn’t with the times and has some strong opinions. Samantha discusses about being free, and exploring new ideas and challenges.

1950s: The Magical History Tour of Burscough travels to the 1950s. Where Bill Wilson (Phil), who has a been a bargee for over 50 years recognises that the world is changing even in the little village of Burscough. He shares memories both of good and bad times.
