Congratulations Chris but the celebrations will have to wait…
Our very lovely Curate Chris Neilson, hasn’t had the smoothest of introductions to St John’s Burscough, arriving mid pandemic, excited, enthusiastic and full of passion to get stuck into church life he’s been met with obstacles and bumps in the road at every turn. Having to meet and get to know the congregation over Zoom was difficult enough, without missing out on a welcome party for him and his lovely family and then having water poured on his ambitious plans for celebrating Christmas and Easter! However Chris has shown true determination to not let COVID spoil his fun and he’s still smiling and as enthusiastic as ever.
A very small group of St John’s folk and friends and family of Chris were able to join him at his Ordination of Priest Service at Liverpool Cathedral on Saturday 12th June. A very special and important day in his chosen ministry. The service was led by Rt. Rev Bishop Bev Mason and accompanied by Rt Rev Paul Bayes. A beautiful service which saw the 7 Ordinands presented to the Bishop. Chris was presented by our own Rev Cannon David Banbury as his training incumbent and by our own celebrity Lay Representative Ron Gillard!
At St John’s we love a party and we had a family fun day all planned to celebrate Chris’s Ordination on 27th June but when COVID restrictions weren’t lifted we had to postpone yet another celebration for him!
We promise Chris that when we are allowed we will roll all your celebrations into one very special party and as with all St John’s do’s there will be lots and lots of Cake!!!!
