The campaign theme for this year is “Do it Fair” encouraging the public to make a difference for farmers and workers by choosing Fairtrade products. The focus is on the critical role Fairtrade plays in providing fair pay, ensuring fair treatment, and building a Fairer future for producers amidst rising costs and climate challenges.
What is Fairtrade Fortnight?
A Call to Action: It’s a period when thousands of companies, groups, and individuals across the UK unite to raise awareness and support the global Fairtrade movement. This year Fairtrade have a Brew it Fair Campaign – More information (including a great video) can be found here.
Highlighting Struggles: The campaign aims to inform the public about the struggles faced by smallholder farmers and workers due to volatile prices, climate change, and economic instability.
Promoting Fairtrade: By choosing Fairtrade products like tea, coffee, chocolate and bananas, people ensure farmers receive a Fairtrade Minimum Price and the Fairtrade Premium to invest in their communities.
Buying Fairtrade is easy – there are almost 5,000 Fairtrade products from coffee and tea, to flowers and gold, so when you shop look for the Fairtrade Mark.
