There was a lovely atmosphere in Church on Friday 24th September, a feeling that we have not had for so long. The smell of bacon butties and coffee as you walked in was wonderful and welcoming. Anne and her amazing team had excelled themselves with fresh bakes, plants, gorgeous hand knitted goods and beautifully sewn crafts from talented congregation members.

What was so special though was the lovely buzz of conversations over coffee and cake, something that we have all missed so much. It was wonderful to see church being used in this way once more and even better that we were raising money for MACMILLAN cancer support.

I had conversations with two friends I hadn’t seen for well over a year and it was just lovely to catch up on their lives, share memories and swap crafting tips!

The morning was very busy with people popping in and out, but managed in a COVID sensitive way so there weren’t crowded areas and people could choose where they felt comfortable to sit. It was a great success, being our first community event since opening back up. We hope that this will be the first of many more events that we will be able to run in the near future.

And now for a drum roll…How much did we raise?

Well a staggering £1622.20 (£1730, with gift aid)

Many thanks to all the volunteers on the day, all those who generously made crafts and cakes to sell and to all who gave so abundantly to a wonderful cause.
