This year celebrates 30 years since Fairtrade products first hit the shelves and for us at St John’s it marks 10 years since we first achieved Fairtrade Church status.

Through the strength of Fairtrade’s community, millions of Fairtrade farmers have secured a fairer price for what they grow and improved their living standards. The ‘ripple effect’ of this has enabled more children to go to school and university, women empowered to take an enhanced role in food production and projects introduced to counter the effects of climate change. Despite this success our global food system still isn’t fair. Farmers are frequently forced to sell their crops for less than they cost to grow, with climate change making conditions increasingly challenging. Farmers say that a fair price is the most important factor in improving their lives, to build resilience, adapt for climate change and create a more sustainable future for food production.

This year’s campaign will highlight that however big or small a purchase you make, you have the power to ……… # BeTheChange Choose Fairtrade!
• When you choose Fairtrade……you contribute to a fairer, more sustainable future for food production.
• When you choose Fairtrade ……you help famers receive a fairer price for what they grow.
• When you choose Fairtrade ……you help rebalance power in the supply chains.
