Youth & Young Adults, we have a number of great activities and groups!

At St John’s we aim to encourage our young people wherever they are on their faith journey.

If it is just being part of our community, if they want to explore more about what it means to be a follower of Jesus, if they are committed to living out a spirit filled life and want to know more, if they want to serve here within the community of St Johns.

There are a number of opportunities for all to engage and throughout the year there are different stand-alone opportunities:

BE HEADSTRONG – a course to build resilience and encourage young people to be aware of the need to take care of their mental health

YOUTH ALPHA – a course designed to help youngsters explore their understanding of the Christian faith

Plus weekends away & sleepovers!

House Groups

There are different house groups meeting in different locations, available for young people up to the age of 25.

Groups are loosely arranged by age. House groups are designed to help our young people gain a greater knowledge and understanding of what the Bible has to say to us. Through study, discussion, food and fun, our young people are able to explore how the Bible is relevant to their daily lives, here and now in the 21st century.

House groups are also a great support for individuals as they journey together, supporting one another through the ups and downs of life.

JC’s

JCs meets on a Wednesday evening here at the church hall. JCs is an opportunity to hang out with friends, play games, let off steam and explore some of the issues that young people face growing up in society today.

Each week can be very different, from ready steady cook sessions to exploring how we might deal with bullying, from playing wide games to talking about current world issues. The sessions are so wide and varied and aim to stimulate young people to think about situations and opportunities in the world around them through the eyes of others.

We have a Junior group for young people in Year 7 & 8 that meets at 6pm- 7:30pm and the Senior group that meets 7:30-9:00pm

Games ‘n’ Grub

Games n Grub is held on a Tuesday 3:30-5:00 in church (term time only).

We want to provide a safe space for young people of high school age to come along and chill out with their friends in a warm and safe environment. After a busy day at school, we encourage youngsters to grab a bite to eat – toast and milk shakes – and join in the many and varied board games and activities that we have on offer.

The adults too are happy to listen and chat through any worries, anxieties, achievements, and successes that the day may have had in store for them.
