Alternative Title… JC’s Night of Teamwork and Chaos at Rock & River

A bunch of young people and their leaders headed off for an evening of fun at Rock & River Outdoor Pursuits Centre in Mawdesley.   We had a glorious night for water sports and climbing high, while the sun set on a beautiful evening.  All had great fun developing core teamwork skills, during the different tasks.

Messing around on the water (and of course in it) was a big favourite.  A great bit of fun was had during the team building raft races, which was a tough challenge and some definitely got dizzy from going around in circles.  Communication skills were tested and expertly used for a perfect rhythm of chaos in the rafts.  For some it was second nature on the water, for others it was their first time, but we were really proud to see everyone encouraging and supporting each other, which meant a great time was had by all.  Chaos then unfolded with the paddle boards.  The initial plan was for them to stay on them, but not many did, (maybe by choice, or to pull others in) NOBODY STAYED DRY!

The high ropes and climbing wall were a good test of everyone’s bravery, some who were adamant they didn’t want to go high, ended up nearly at the top, overcoming their own fear of heights.  Some were big babies and had to climb down instead of scaling down (ahem Obi Birkett – for someone who wants to be a tree surgeon, not liking heights may be a struggle ha ha). The low ropes was a great test of balance and teamwork, helping each other around and getting their feet in the right places.  All managed to get around the course in relative ease, even if some needed a few hints and encouragement to help them figure it out.

The leap of faith alongside all the other activities not only pushed their bravery, and pushed most out of their comfort zones, but time between activities gave great opportunity to chat about life and faith, so as the title suggests some also took a leap of faith in their lives to God.  The whole evening was a perfect example of faith and friendship, working together to have the best of fun.  It’s an awesome thing to be a part of!
